What happens here — The dentist assesses whether the tooth can be repaired here with a filling or a crown, or whether it needs treatment we refer out.

What to do now — Hold it by the crown and keep your fingers off the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently with water without scrubbing. If you can safely place it back in the socket, do so. Otherwise, keep it in cold milk and come straight in.
What happens here — The dentist assesses whether the tooth can be returned to the socket and what treatment is possible.

Swelling or possible infection
What to do now — Call for urgent dental care. Hold a cold pack against the outside of the jaw, and do not apply heat. If swelling makes it difficult to breathe, speak or swallow, call 911 or go to an emergency department.
What happens here — The dentist examines the source of the swelling and explains the treatment needed.
If root canal treatment is required, you are referred to an endodontist
A lost filling or crown
What to do now — Chew on the other side until you get here. If a filling has come out, softened sugarless gum can protect the space briefly while you travel. Bring the crown with you if you still have it.
What happens here — The dentist examines what remains and explains whether the restoration can be replaced or whether the tooth needs another treatment.
You hear the treatment price before anything begins
An ache that interrupts work or sleep
What to do now — Call before noon for a held same-morning slot. Take an over-the-counter pain medicine that is safe for you and follow the label on the packet. Do not place the tablet against the tooth or the gum.
What happens here — The dentist finds the source of the pain and explains whether the tooth needs immediate treatment or a planned follow-up.

Call first. Slots are held every morning for urgent problems, and calling lets the clinic prepare for what happened before you arrive.
What if it’s after noon?
Call anyway, and the team will tell you whether an appointment is still available that day. If the held same-morning slots are gone, ask for the next available time or the next morning.
Do you take my insurance?
The clinic bills Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield, Blue Cross and most plans directly. Coverage is checked before treatment starts.
Will an emergency cost more?
No. The published prices apply whatever day you come in, and the desk confirms what your plan covers before treatment starts.
