What to expect

1

Dental Exam

Teeth cleaning is performed by a dental hygienist and begins with a dental examination of your entire mouth. A dentist is called in to evaluate any observed issues and to perform a more detailed evaluation.

2

Remove Plaque and Tartar

The dental hygienist uses an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and tartar around your gums. This is normally the longest step.

3

Polishing and Flossing

Once clean of major plaque, a special toothpaste is used to scrub and polish your teeth to get them to their natural brightness. A quick round of flossing ensures all debris during the process is removed.

4

Fluoride Treatment

An optional fluoride treatment in the form of mouthwash or gel is administered. Fluoride is a natural found mineral that helps strengthen teeth and prevents cavities from forming.
